Live like Ross - Enjoy What You Do...
I was reminded today just how important it is to enjoy every aspect of your life and take nothing for granted.
Our dear Irish friend, Ross Mahon, passed away last Saturday morning from a short three week battle, initially with pneumonia, which then quickly turned into Leukemia. It has been a shock to our friend group, and to me personally.
I admired and adored Ross.
Ross was the life of the party- the ultimate social butterfly- intelligent, worldly, ambitious, kind, sincere, and frankly just an all around great guy. My heart goes out to all that were lucky enough to know him - he was a son, brother, dear friend and colleague to all the fabulous 'Googlers' around the world.
From my pool side talks and night time dinners with Ross, I can tell you with a whole heart that Ross lived life to the fullest. His personal life was full of fun activities surrounding himself with constant laughter and travels that allowed him to see the world. He was always game to tell an Irish joke, share a story or laugh at us Americans.
From my understanding, Ross was the head of his department at Google, having been a Google employee for over 10 years. I know he loved his job- the people, and the challenge of his day-to-day. Ross was well respected by all that knew him at Google and I know that because it was his Google colleagues that brought him into our friend group.
If there is one thing that I will take away from this tragic loss of such an incredible human, our dear friend Ross, it is: enjoy what you do.
Enjoy your colleagues and make them your friends.
Enjoy your job and turn it into something that you love.
Enjoy the life you choose to lead.
Ross, you will be truly missed.
Hope they have the finest cigars up there for you. PLEASE don't smoke them all, try and save a few for me... See you in heaven.
-your friend Shirley
